Midwest Interstate is built on a strong family foundation. The company was started in 1961 by an electrical engineer and World War II veteran. We're a union company, strongly rooted in Chicago. Safety is a top priority. We have one of the lowest MOD rates in the industry and zero injuries in five years. We aim to deliver best-in-class work, the simplest way, every time for all our partners.

To our potential partners,

Midwest Interstate currently employs 60 electricians, of which 25 are communication technicians. Midwest Interstate was founded in 1961 and is still affiliated with its original ownership. As of January 1st, 2018, ownership and operations was transferred from the Chaput family to the Shannon family, continuing the tradition as a private, family-owned company. Today, we continue to work closely with the Chaput family to help us transition and grow the business. The size and scope of our projects range from $2 million for telecommunication projects to $6 million for electrical construction projects. We are currently located at multiple sites throughout the Chicago area and would be very interested in getting involved with any projects that you would extend the invitation to bid.

Midwest Interstate has engineered, designed and installed electrical power systems since its inception and has designed & installed structured cable systems for major hospitals, banks, institutions and manufacturing facilities in the Chicagoland area for the past 45 years.  Midwest has also been involved from concept, design and subsequent installation of large Central Office and Data Center projects.

We have maintenance agreements with many of our customers to provide preventive maintenance and solutions to meet their needs. After installations, we value a long-term relationship with our customers. Midwest has the capabilities to provide all types of electrical services. These include telecommunication / low voltage solutions involving both copper and fiber optics along with system integration to fit any customer’s requirements.  Whether your needs are to reorganize, expand, create or update electrical infrastructure, AV systems or telecommunication services, we can help develop a solution to fit the requirements of the client.

Midwest Interstate has electrical engineers and communications systems designers on staff that can design a customized power or structured cabling system to fit the needs of your customers.  We are a 24-hour full-service electrical contractor with a full line of electrical and communication service trucks.  We have a number of accounts that require us to perform installations on a national basis.

We are a registered electrical contractor with the City of Chicago, a IBEW Local 134 Member, a NECA affiliated contractor and a BICSI Corporate Member.  We have signed reciprocal agreements with many of the IBEW local unions. This allows us to hire for jobs anywhere in the country from the local workforce. In order to keep a consistent quality performance on any project that we perform for our customers, we do not sub-contract labor. In most cases we are able to mobilize a workforce for any project with as little as a 24-hour notice.

In 2001, we formed a separate company called Midwest Interstate Technologies. If any of your projects require minority participation, we would like to inform your company that this is a WBE enterprise. This company has employees that are strategically located in large metropolitan areas across the continental United States. This allows us to be competitive on accounts that require installations on a national scale or minority participation.

The experience level of our current list of communications personnel ranges from 7 to 40 years.  The majority of these technicians have certifications with various venders, which include Belden, Hubbell, Systemax, CommScope, Leviton, Molex, Lucent, Telcordia, Nortel & BICSI. All of our technicians are very experienced in the installation of fiber optic, DAS and copper cabling infrastructures.  We are actively involved in the telecommunications design, integration and management for multiple clients across the Chicagoland area.

A large part of our business involves special system installation, integration and design. These include Building Automation, Fire Alarm, Access Control & Security, Central Office, Data Centers, Audio/Video, Wireless (Cellular, Telemetry & DAS) & Broadcasting.

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce Midwest Interstate to you.  Feel free to call if you require any additional information. A selection of organizations that we do business with can be found here. A list of references can be provided upon request. Our fax number and office phone number are listed above.  You can also contact us anytime via e-mail or cell phone listed below.
